And the Winner Is....

The winner of The Prairie Quilts & Kolaches 4th Anniversary give-away is.....

LINDA!!

Linda said...
I wish I could have gone with you (sigh) ain't distance a pain:( I've enjoyed the extra hour but will regret it come spring.

I used this random number generator as the Blue-eyed Farmer was in a hurry this morning to get out the door.

Her prize will be a $50 Amazon gift card, sent either by email or snail-mail.  (Linda I'll be emailing you for your preference.)

Thank you all for commenting and helping me celebrate the past 4 years of writing down my random thought and reveling in the ordinary that is my life here on the Prairie Farm.

And now on to the next ....

Hugs!
Kay

Frugal Friday

Even more quickly here... it's wayyy past my bedtime.   We just got home from our Big Shop.  I love saving $$.

I'll tell you all about it later this weekend.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has commented so far and entered my Blog-iversary Give-away.  And if you haven't done this yet, you still have plenty of time.  Just comment on any of my posts, starting with This One and do so before 11:59 p.m., Nov. 8th.  I'll select a name at random and that person will win an Amazon Gift Card.  ( I promise!  I will have the denomination for you before the 8th!  Sheesh, how lame can a blogger be....)

Ok, I'm getting punchy and loopy.  Definitely time for bed for the Prairie Chick.  Tomorrow will start with taking calves to be doctored for pink eye and lumpy necks.

And if you would, pray for my Farmer, who is fighting off a cold.  Aches, pains, fever, oh my~~
Thank you.

Hugs
Kay

Thrifty Thursday

Another quick post... seems to be the nature of my life lately.

I have been going through all this week's sale ads and have been keeping a close eye on my frugal bloggers.  It's beginning to be "that" time of year.  Holiday gift shopping and holiday baking and food shopping.

Our local stores are running sales on turkeys (77¢ per pound), and sales on spices, flour, sugars, canned fruits and vegetables, special chocolates and the "better" deli meats and cheeses.

I found online coupons for dollars off on some family dvds/blu-ray sets.  You know there will be Black Friday ads for movies and I plan to keep these handy for then.
If we don't want these particular titles, I'll donate them to the local charity gift drives.  I bought the toys months ago for Stuff the Cruiser drive that will be coming up soon.

Many of my favorite on-line clothing stores are holding 40% off sales right now.  And all the big toy catalogs have come in the mail.

I know alot of you are waiting for Black Friday or December to start your gift buying but let me tell you.... in past years I've found the best deals are Now.  You just have to take the time to look for them, compare prices and watch for extra helps like coupons or free shipping.

I hope I've inspired you to go search for the best prices now.  Let's try for a happy holiday season but spend less than in past years.  I have my budget, do You?

And speaking of shopping.... remember I'm holding a Amazon gift card to celebrate my 4th blogiversary!  (I'd tell you the amount of the gift card but the site I use to get them is funky tonight.  It will be a "significant" amount, I promise!)   Just comment on any post starting with  THIS ONE and ending on 11:59 p.m. Nov. 8th.  Since I moderate commments I get your messages sent to my inbox and I'll randomly select a winner from that list.  If you don't comment, you can't win!

Hugs,
Kay~

Random Wednesday

I didn't have a new photo for today, so I opened iPhoto, made the photos all small, closed my eyes, scrolled up and down and clicked.  I selected this photo from August 30, 2008.

I love my Grain Master Mill and hard white spring wheat from Montana.  Yes, I'm a "crunchy" Christian Farmer's Wife, who mills her own flour.  We've even grown it and sold it, but when 2 of the 3 years were crop failures, we decided it wasn't worth the hassle of having it triple-cleaned and coordinating customers' pickups.

I hope to bake tomorrow or cook or do something fun in the kitchen and I WILL sew tomorrow, even if it's just for 15 mins.

I've restarted my walking regimen, thanks to a dear friend who is hounding... encouraging me via text-messages.  2.5 miles for the week so far.  That east hill is a killer!

And just a reminder, in honor of my 4th blogiversary, I'm showing my appreciation to all my loyal readers by giving away an Amazon Gift Card (denomination to be determined very soon).  Just Comment On This Post by 11:59 p.m. CST Nov. 8th.  I'll randomly draw a name and send out the gift card via snailmail, so be sure to give me some way of contacting you for your address.

And I'd love to know how you found my blog.

Hugs!

Thankful Tuesday and a give-away

Thankful Tuesday--

Sunrise in October, (photo not "fixed" in anyway.)
Today I am thankful for:

Friends at church who pray when they say they will and then check up on me to see how I'm doing.

A Heavenly Father who listens to our prayers about the mundane things of life.

New Twin Calves born healthy and hardy.

Fresh banana bread.

Beautiful sunshine and gentle breezes.

An old chair made "new" looking with just some paint.

Health and strength.

Fresh air to breath on my walk.

A 10-min. doze in the sunshine.

Freedom in this country to vote.

Encouragement and giggles via Texting with a dear friend.

A heater at my back on a chilly evening.

Supper out with my Blue-eyed Farmer.

I am a very blessed lady.

And now the give-away.... I was looking back and realized I started blogging on Nov. 8, 2006.  Almost 4 years ago!  I started on Zanga and came over to Blogger 2 years ago I think.
Anyway.... to show my appreciation to all my loyal readers, I'll be giving away an Amazon Gift Card (denomination to be determined very soon).  Just Comment here between today and 11:59 p.m. CST Nov. 8th.  I'll randomly draw a name and send out the gift card via snailmail, so be sure to give me some way of contacting you for your address.

Tell me how you found my blog.

And if you are curious to what I was thinking that first day, click the "Random Thoughts" button on the right hand side of the page and scroll down to Nov. 8, 2006.

Hugs!
Kay~
